The illusion of cross-strait detente is all he has. Frank Ching's latest analysis is typical of those that the Ma cheerleaders listen to. His point was that Ma has still made huge progress on cross-strait relations, so while we should not be happy with his typhoon response, we should still give him credit. FAIL! <br /><br />Ching overlooks the fact that the only reason why Ma has made progress is because of his ideological stance and willingness to secure an electoral boost at any cost. <br /><br />I feel a lot of anxiety about this military build-up, especially because I know that Ma will never admit that it is a bad omen. <br /><br />The only hope for Taiwan is increased contact with Washington and increased military protection by its benefactor.
